I'm sure that People of Walmart has been around a lot longer than I've known about it, which is to say I discovered it last week with the insistence of my lovely husband. As I was going through the photos and gasping/gagging at what I saw, not only did my heart go out to the people who have no idea that they are being mocked by millions but I couldn't help but shake my head at those who would be proud to be on People of Walmart.
While I was disturbed from the very first picture, my distress only grew as I began recognizing outfits being mocked that I quite positive my family members - mostly cousins - would wear to Walmart. (I'm pretty sure my cousin Valerie owns this exact dress in this photo) They would, without a doubt, be confident that they looked sexy and cute and who wouldn't want them wearing this outfit. I scrolled further to discover that shirts with certain vulgar sayings would be worn by numerous family members, not excluding my grandmother who wore a shirt with the word "sexy" written in rhinestones, with her cleavage pushed forward and everything to my college graduation. I mean as insane as my family is, you'd think they'd have a limit but if they do, I have yet to see it. I wouldn't put it past them to try and bring a goat with them in the store or perhaps make a throne out of beer (two of my favorite photos on this site).
I'm not sure I will ever be able to visit that website again without comparing the actions of all these people to that of individuals in my family, and since Walmart is such a big shopping center for everyone who is in my family; maybe it is where they are learning these behaviors that I drone on and on about.
